The crumbling Upper Post

• The Upper Post section of Fort Snelling was built between 1870 and 1910, and little used after World War II.

• Its buildings were abandoned 10 to 50 years ago.

• In 2006, the Upper Post ended up on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's list of the country's 11 most endangered historic places. The endangered structures include a hospital, three barracks, a prison, a morgue, barns, a bakery and houses.
