Work resumed Wednesday on the Hwy. 61 bridge near Hastings, meaning motorists faced single-lane traffic Thursday and will do so again today, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.
Work on the bridge had been suspended earlier this month as the department awaited a steel delivery. The shipment arrived this week and work resumed.
The bridge is reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Short-term lane restrictions will be imposed at various times through mid-August as crews finish the repair project, MnDOT said.
Bridge traffic had been reduced to one lane controlled by a signal for much of May and June when MnDOT began the bridge painting and maintenance project. Painting has been completed.
