No one was in the vehicle when it was hit early this morning near Moorhead.

A Clay County Sheriff's Office SUV -- pulled over on the side of an interstate in western Minnesota early this morning -- was struck by a vehicle and totaled, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 2:40 a.m. on Interstate Hwy. 94, east of Moorhead, according to the State Patrol.

The patrol says that Justin M. Anderson, 26, of Fergus Falls, Minn., was slightly hurt after his westbound truck hit the SUV. The SUV, being driven by Lt. Steve Todd, had stopped to assist a state trooper at an earlier crash. Todd was not in the SUV.

Sheriff's Chief Deputy Matt Ciiro said it appears that alcohol was involved in the collision.

In the earlier crash, a driver swerved to avoid a deer and hit the guardrail. Matthew Guck, 18, of Plymouth, suffered minor injuries.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
