A 22-year-old man from Bellevue, Neb., has been identified as the shooting victim who died after an altercation early Sunday outside a Mankato entertainment center.

Path W. Accouth died from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to a preliminary report from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.

Accouth, who was in town to participate in a weekend basketball tournament held at Minnesota State University, Mankato, was shot during a disturbance that occurred outside of the entertainment center shortly before 2 a.m. Three others were injured with noncritical injuries in the shooting.

Mankato police said Tuesday a shooter has not yet been identified.

Many of the tournament participants attended a celebration at the entertainment center, connected to the university’s South Sudanese Student Association.

Mankato police said a large number of people were on scene at the time, and investigators believe several people witnessed the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to come to the city’s Public Safety Center, 710 South Front St., or to call 911 or 507-387-8780.
