It took 32 days to draw 100,000 visitors to the Science Museum exhibit.
More than 100,000 people had visited the Science Museum's "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit as of Monday, marking it the fastest the St. Paul museum has reached that attendance milestone.
It took only 32 days for "Star Wars" to hit the 100,000 mark. That beat the previous mark set in 2006 when it took 34 days for "Body Worlds" to attract that number of visitors.
"Star Wars" opened June 13 and is poised to attract 250,000 guests by the time it closes on Aug. 24.
The museum has been open extra hours to accommodate the huge demand, which has helped boost attendance. The exhibit is open seven days a week, and the museum has stayed open until 11:30 p.m. The museum normally closes at 9 p.m.
Tickets are still available, but most weekends are tight, said Gail Vold Greco, a museum spokeswoman. Availability is best on weekdays, she said.
Tickets are $19 for adults and $16.50 for children. Combination packages that include the Omnitheater movie also are available at www.smm.org or by calling 651-221-9444.
