Two Minneapolis police officers were injured Tuesday night when their squad and an SUV collided.

The officers were traveling east on 36th Avenue when their squad was hit on the driver's side by an SUV that was headed south on Russell Avenue N., said police spokesman John Elder.

The officers were taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries and were expected to be released Tuesday evening, he said. The two people in the SUV declined medical help.

The intersection is controlled by stop signs on 36th Avenue, Elder said. It has not yet been determined who was at fault for the crash, he said.

Elder said he didn't know whether the squad had lights or sirens on before the crash or how fast either vehicle was traveling.
