Three dead in head-on crash on Hwy. 169 near Mankato

Three people, including a mother and her 5-year-old daughter, were killed in a head-on collision on Hwy. 169 near Mankato on Sunday afternoon, the State Patrol said.

Lindi Paul, 36, of St. Peter, Minn., was driving south with her daughter, Emma Paul, when she reportedly lost control of her car, crossed the center median and collided with a pickup truck driven by Michael O’Boyle, 65, of Marion, S.D.

Lindi and Emma Paul were pronounced dead a short time after the 1 p.m. accident, the patrol said.

O’Boyle, who had three passengers in his truck, was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he died about an hour later, authorities said. One passenger, Annabelle O’Boyle, 4, was hospitalized with serious injuries, the patrol said.

The highway was dry at the time of the accident. No alcohol was detected, the patrol said.

According to the patrol, everyone but Lindi Paul was wearing a seat belt.
