A 5-year-old boy allegedly abducted by his mother during a court-ordered visit in Belle Plaine Saturday has been found safe, authorities said Sunday.
His mother, Nichole Marie May, 29, was arrested without incident by Owatonna police, and the investigation continues.
Nolen Joseph May-Schmitz is to be reunited with his father, who is his custodial parent.
"While this entire situation has been frightening for so many people, we're relieved that the immediate crisis has been resolved without further conflict," Scott County Chief Deputy Dean Opatz said in a statement.
The incident had led Belle Plaine police to issue a crime alert Saturday night seeking the public's help in finding the pair.
