Minneapolis police are investigating a homicide that happened early Saturday in southeast Minneapolis.

Police went to the Como neighborhood about 12:45 a.m. after a call for help from a neighbor. They found one man dead next to a knife at a duplex in the 1100 block of 13th Avenue SE. The medical examiner will release the official cause of death, but police say it appears the man was fatally stabbed and they are treating it as a homicide.

Police spokesman John Elder said police immediately encountered the suspect, who was also injured, at the duplex and he was "vigorously combative to police."

Elder said the man was arrested and police are trying to piece together what happened. There were no witnesses and the suspect isn't answering questions.

It is the fifth homicide in Minneapolis so far this year.
