Plans to build a 307,000-square-foot senior living and care complex won unanimous approval last week from the Woodbury City Council.

The first phase of the project by Shoreview-based St. Therese, a faith-based senior care and housing organization, will include 208 senior housing units: 100 independent-living apartments with an underground parking garage, 54 memory care and assisted units and 54 skilled nursing units.

The plans, which include modifying Woodbury's comprehensive plan, will next be reviewed by the Metropolitan Council, said Eric Searles, senior planner.

The project is the second approved for the city's Urban Village, located at the junction of Radio Drive and Bailey Road. The first project, Bielenberg Gardens, is now under construction and includes a grocery and housing units.
