Minnesota sent more athletes to the Winter Olympics than almost any other state in the nation this year, and Gov. Mark Dayton wants to salute them all.

"I am one of many Minnesotans, who grew up dreaming of making the U.S. Olympic team. Few athletes, however, have the exceptional talent and extraordinary dedication needed to reach this sports zenith," Dayton, a former goalie, said in a statement Friday. "For all Minnesotans, I send our state's Olympians our heartiest congratulations for their amazing achievements. We are proud to send our very best wishes to Minnesota's athletes and to the entire Team USA."

There are more Minnesotans competing in Sochi than from all of its neighboring states combined. Only California sent more Winter Olympians to the games this year.

Minnesotans will be able to watch their neighbors competing in everything from hockey and curling to biathlon and speed skating this year. You can see the full list of home state athletes on the governor's blog, here.
