Detours are ahead this weekend for drivers who normally use Interstate 35W between downtown Minneapolis and Crosstown Hwy. 62 on the Minneapolis-Richfield border.
That 5-mile stretch of freeway will be shut down in both directions Friday night through Monday morning for pavement work, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.
Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, with all lanes barricaded starting at 10 p.m. The freeway will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
Detours directing most drivers to Hwy. 100 will be posted.
