With temperatures expected to be in the 30s on Saturday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to give concrete work on the Lafayette Bridge another go.

The northbound lanes of Hwy. 52 between Concord and 7th Streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday so crews can pour concrete for the new northbound bridge. The bridge spans the Mississippi River on the east end of downtown St. Paul.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to use the current bridge as a platform.

The work was to have been done last weekend but was called off when temperatures fell well below zero.

The southbound lanes will remain open but with restrictions. No vehicle or combination of a vehicle and trailer longer than 35 feet is allowed on Hwy. 52 between 7th Street and Plato Boulevard.

Northbound drivers should detour to Hwy. 61, Interstate 494 and I-94 during the closure.
