A 68-year-old Wisconsin woman died after rescuers pulled her from her burning home in the village of Roberts.

Roberts police officer Todd Shafer said he found Roberta Eastman inside the home after his department was called to the fire about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roberts is about 12 miles east of Hudson, Wis.

She was taken to Hudson Hospital and then to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where she died.

The Wisconsin fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, but Shafer said it appears that smoking may have contributed. Foul play is not suspected.
