An 88-year-old motorist inadvertently clipped a central Minnesota barbershop with his passenger vehicle, but the driver and the people inside the building were spared injury, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. Saturday at John's Barber Shop in downtown Foley, according to police.

The driver was identified as Jerome Wagner, of Foley.

According to police:

Wagner began backing out of a parking spot in front of the shop and bumped into a parked car. A witness stopped Wagner's vehicle before it could cause serious damage.

Wagner then began driving forward, went onto the sidewalk and into the front of the shop, which has large windows in front below a red-and-white striped awning. No one in the building was hurt, nor was Wagner, police said.
