Three Minnesota Guard units to return in coming days

Last update: July 3, 2008 - 11:20 PM

Three units from the Minnesota National Guard are scheduled to return to the United States from overseas in the next few days.

The 851st Vertical Engineer Company are to arrive on Monday at Volk Field, Wisconsin. They will go through five to seven days of processing before going to Minnesota.

For the past year the engineering group has been working on construction and electrical projects in Baghdad.

Also returning is the Mankato-based 2nd Battalion, 135th Infantry and the Roseville-based 347th Personnel Services Detachment.

Four hundred soldiers from the Mankato unit are scheduled to return to the United States by Sunday. They were peacekeepers in Kosovo.

The Roseville unit will arrive at Volk Field on Monday from Kuwait, where they did record-keeping for troops involved in the Iraq War.
