BEMIDJI, Minn. — A northern Minnesota city has landed an Indoor Football League franchise.

The league has granted Bemidji (beh-MIJ'-ee) an expansion franchise that will begin play in February.

The co-owner and general manager of the Cedar Rapids Titans, Chris Kokalis, will be president and co-owner of the yet-to-be-named Bemidji franchise.

The team will play in Bemidji's Sanford Center, a 4,700-seat arena. The center's executive director Curtis Webb tells The Bemidji Pioneer (http://bit.ly/170n5o9 ) it will be the first foray into professional sports for the city.

The IFL season runs from February to June. Each team plays a 14-game schedule with half of the games at home.
