Police made 225 drunken-driving arrests Friday at the start of a two-week campaign of increased enforcement.

The Department of Public Safety announced arrests as they came in Friday night on its Twitter page. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign lasts from Aug. 16 to Sept. 2, which is Labor Day.

"North St. Paul DWI: Male, 22, w/ 0.256 BAC. #onelessdrunkdriver. Highest BAC tonight so far. Avg. BAC of 2012 DWI offenders was 0.15," the department tweeted about 1 a.m. Saturday.

A spokesman said Saturday that most Fridays this summer have featured 180 to 190 DWI arrests. The department says that 219 people have been killed on Minnesota roads this year, compared with 198 at the same time in 2012.
