MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department says two police officers are on administrative leave during an internal affairs investigation.

The department made the announcement Friday but gave few details.

According to a department news release, Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau (jeh-NAY' har-TOH') requested an internal affairs investigation and placed both officers on administrative leave.

The investigation is active. The officers were not identified.

According to the release, Minnesota law prohibits Harteau or any City of Minneapolis employee from making further comments. The law also prohibits disclosing the nature of an active internal affairs investigation.

A phone message left late Friday afternoon for Minneapolis Police Federation President John Delmonico was not immediately returned.
