After several days of scorching heat, relief is in sight for Minnesotans.

A heat advisory is in effect for central and southern Minnesota through Thursday evening. By mid-afternoon, temperatures had reached 93 degrees in the Twin Cities and Duluth, 94 in St. Cloud and Redwood Falls, and 97 in Red Wing.

The combination of heat and humidity was making it feel more like the high 90s to low 100s in much of Minnesota.

The National Weather Service says a cold front will move southeastward across Minnesota Thursday afternoon and night, bringing the threat of severe thunderstorms. But the front also will bring cooler, less humid weather.

Highs Friday will range from the mid-70s in northern Minnesota to the low 90s in the southeast.
