Fire crews from several communities fought a blaze Friday morning at a Plymouth apartment building. No serious injuries were reported.

The blaze at the three-story Vicksburg Village Apartments at Rockford Road and Vicksburg Lane broke out around 3:45 a.m., according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's office.

Fire Chief Richard Kline said all residents were accounted for, there were no major injuries and the blaze started in an air-conditioner unit.

Kline added that six to eight apartments suffered substantial damage. Some residents will be allowed to return to their homes later Friday, but others will be displaced much longer, he added.

Resident Mike Zenner told KSTP TV that he heard fire alarms, grabbed his two dogs and was able to get out of the building.
Plymouth Police Chief Michael Goldstein said he believes all residents did get out of the building, but authorities will be going through the building doing an extensive search to be sure there are no victims.
The chief told members of the media that some residents suffered smoke inhalation.

Rockford Road was closed for more than four hours at Vicksburg Lane, and traffic was diverted onto Old Rockford Road.
