The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced a bridge improvement plan that includes replacements for the 11 highway and freeway bridges listed below. The year indicates when construction would begin.
TWIN CITIES AREA
• Hwy. 52 over the Mississippi in St. Paul, 2010
• Hwy. 61 over the Mississippi River in Hastings, 2010
• Hwy. 36 over the St. Croix River in Stillwater (replacing Stillwater Lift Bridge upriver), 2013
• Interstate 35E over Cayuga Street in St. Paul, 2014
OUTSIDE METRO AREA
• Hwy. 23 over the Mississippi in St. Cloud, 2008
• Hwy. 11 over the Red River in Robbin, on the North Dakota border, 2008
• Interstate 90 over the Mississippi near Dresbach, 2012
• Hwy. 43 over the Mississippi in Winona, 2014
• Hwy. 63 over the Mississippi in Red Wing, 2018
• Hwy. 2 over the Red River between East Grand Forks and Grand Forks, N.D., 2018
• Hwy. 72 over the Rainy River in Baudette, 2018
