A car collided with a light rail train Monday afternoon in south Minneapolis; driver takes off.
A car slid into a southbound light-rail train Monday afternoon in south Minneapolis and then fled the scene before contacting authorities, officials said.
The crash along the Hiawatha Line occurred about 1:30 p.m. near E. 42nd Street, according to Metro Transit.
There were no reported injuries on the train, which left “under its own power” about 20 minutes later, said transit spokesman John Siqveland.
The train sustained some damage and was taken out of service for assessment, he said.
Passengers stepped off at the 46th Street Station and waited for the next train.
The driver of the car contacted transit police shortly after 2 p.m. and was being interviewed, Siqveland said.
