Minneapolis homicide detectives to be featured on "The First 48"

Last update: May 13, 2008 - 11:07 AM

Two Minneapolis homicide detectives spent the night of Dec. 19, 2007 and the critical hours following trying to figure out who killed Kristine Larson, the woman who was found strangled to death in a partially burned car in the city's Seward neighborhood.

Now we'll get to see how Sgts. Rick Zimmerman and Tammy Diedrich tackled the case, and eventually tracked down the culprit. They are the first detectives from the Twin Cities to be featured on the popular hour-long cable television series, "The First 48." The episode airs at 8 p.m. Thursday on A&E and will be rebroadcast at midnight Friday, 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday.

On "The First 48," producers follow detectives from around the country as they race against time to find suspects. Promotional materials describe the show as "gritty and fast-paced," and say it takes viewers behind the scenes of real-life investigations "with unprecedented access to crime scenes, autopsies, forensic processing, and interrogations."

Authorities eventually arrested Zachery Matthews, 21, a former boyfriend of Larson's and the father of her two-year-old child. Matthews was charged with second-degree murder.
