Lane restrictions will go into effect Sunday as a bridge maintenance and project gets underway
It's about to become a bit more difficult to cross the Highway 61 bridge over the Mississippi River near Hastings.
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane starting at 10 p.m. Sunday and lasting until mid-July, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.
Crews will set up a portable signal system on Sunday night that will be used to control traffic while a bridge painting and maintenance project is completed. The project begins on Monday.
Motorists can expect the entire bridge to be shut down on two or three weekends during June to allow workers to replace bearings, MnDOT said.
The agency did not specify which weekends the bridge will be closed.
