There is such thing as free parking in downtown Minneapolis, at least on Wednesdays during May. The catch is you have to drive with at least one other person.

ABC Ramps will allow those who share rides to work or school to park at ramps A and B behind the Target Center without paying the daily rate as part of its Carpool Wednesday offer.

Drivers must arrive with at least one passenger between 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. and be in the designated carpool lane once they enter either ramp. Monitors will give drivers a validation ticket upon entrance. The ticket must be filled out and returned to the cashier on the way out.

Ramp A is located at 7th Street and Interstate Hwy. 394, and Ramp B is at 5th Street and I-394.

Motorists who are interested in sharing rides or setting up a carpool can get help through the Metro Transit Rideshare program. For details see www.metrotransit.org  or call 612-373-3333.
