A Pipestone company that makes rotors for wind turbines has paid a $19,000 fine for violating air quality regulations, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said.
The agency said Suzlon Rotor Corp. failed to obtain an air quality permit before beginning construction of its plant in November 2005 and didn't apply for the permit until June 2007.
The agency says Suzlon has the potential to emit 27 tons of hazardous air pollutants per year and is subject to federal standards for hazardous air pollutants
