Thief in Coon Rapids heist broke her finger during the struggle.
A man swiped a pricey diamond ring from a jewelry store in Coon Rapids and broke the finger of the sales clerk in the process, authorities said.
The theft occurred about 4:35 p.m. Sunday at Kay Jewelers, near Northdale Boulevard and Main Street, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
The value of the ring, with a 1.6-carat Leo diamond, is more than $15,000.
The man asked to see a specific engagement ring for a closer look, the Sheriff's Office said. That's when he forced the ring from the clerk's hand and fled. The struggle left the clerk with a broken finger that needed medical attention, authorities added.
Surveillance images -- still and video -- show the suspect in the store, speaking with the clerk. He is described as white, 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with sandy blond hair and clean shaven. He wore a tan jacket with a fur collar, blue jeans and blue shoes. A witness saw him leave in a white two-door Toyota Celica.
Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at (763) 427-1212.
