Lloyd S. Becker, of St. Cloud passed away on Feb. 14, at the age 81 and was buried at MN State Veteran's Cemetery near Little Falls, Minn.

Lloyd grew up on a farm near the small town of Urbank, MN and he volunteered at the age of 21 to fight in Korea from 1951- 1954 where he was awarded three Bronze Service Stars, an Army Occupation Medal (Japan), United Nations and National Defense Service Medals and a Silver Star in December 1951. After his service in the army, Lloyd worked for the VA Hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Cloud for over 30 years.

Lloyd married Marilyn Pehan of Avon, Minnesota in 1954 and they were married for 47 years until her death in 2001. They raised 10 children – the oldest died of cancer at the age of 10 – while the other 9 each have post – High School educations of varying levels.

In addition to working as a Nursing Assistant at the VA, Lloyd could also be found washing windows for businesses around St. Cloud during the days and cleaning restaurants at midnight in order to support his large family.

Lloyd seemed to know everyone and he never treated anyone as a stranger. Rather, he enjoyed warm conversations wherever he spent time. He especially enjoyed the love of his family – including in-laws, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
