Last update: May 1, 2008 - 2:27 PM

A 46-year-old woman from Sioux Falls has been sentenced in federal court to one year in prison for embezzling more than $35,000 from the accounts of several customers of a Duluth bank.

U.S. District Chief Judge James Rosenbaum also sentenced Charlene Royer on Monday in Minneapolis to pay $31,600 in restitution and to serve three years of supervised release.

According to Royer's plea agreement, from November 2004 to November 2005, as an employee of Republic Bank in Duluth, she diverted about $35,400 from the accounts of 12 customers to her own use and benefit.

Royer pleaded guilty in September.
