Jury finds Minneapolis man, 25, guilty of 18 counts in 2007 murder

Last update: April 29, 2008 - 11:45 PM

Jurors reached their verdicts Tuesday in the Hennepin County murder trial of Everado Cruz-Ramirez -- and for each of the 18 counts Judge Gary Larson read out "guilty."

The 25-year-old Minneapolis man was charged with murder, murder by drive-by for the benefit of a gang and attempted murder in the second degree.

Heli G. Hernandez-Leon, 18, of Columbia Heights, was fatally shot last August in Minneapolis' Phillips neighborhood. He was in a parked car with at least two other men when several shots were fired. Witnesses said Hernandez-Leon was sitting in the driver's seat.

He died from a gunshot to the back.

Sentencing for Cruz-Ramirez is scheduled for May 20.
