All lanes of I-35W south, from I-94 to Hwy. 62, will be closed from approximately 10 o'clock Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
1 As part of the I-35W/Hwy. 62 Crosstown reconstruction project, all lanes of I-35W north, from Interstate 494 to Interstate 94, and all lanes of I-35W south, from I-94 to Hwy. 62, will be closed from approximately 10 o'clock tonight through 5 a.m. Monday. Construction activities this weekend include the demolition of the 46th Street Bridge, placement of steel beams on the 50th Street bridge and utility work across I-35W and Hwy. 62. Motorists can use I-494, Hwy. 100 and Interstate 394 to detour.
The closure of Hwy. 62, from Penn Avenue to the western junction of I-35W, which was previously scheduled for tonight through Monday, has been postponed and will be rescheduled for this fall.
2 The right shoulders, right lanes and ramps on I-394 in both directions, from the end of I-394 to Hwy. 100, will be closed from about 7:30 p.m. Sunday until about 4 a.m. Monday.
3 Short-term closures of I-394 have been scheduled as work continues on the new Minnesota Twins stadium. I-394 east will close at N. 6th Street to the end of I-394 from 8 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Sunday. The 6th Street ramp will remain open.
4 Work on the removal of the 76th Street bridge over I-35W will begin Monday; 76th Street will be closed between Knox Avenue S. and Girard Avenue S. beginning Monday, as will the following ramps, which will remain closed for four -to six weeks:
• The eastbound I-494 to I-35W north loop
• The westbound I-494 to I-35W north ramp
Demolition of the existing bridge is tentatively scheduled for May 2-5, weather permitting. The detour for motorists heading east on I-494 wanting to go north on I-35W is Hwy. 77 north, to Hwy. 62 west, to I-35W north. The detour for motorists heading west on I-494 to I-35W north is Hwy. 100 north, to Hwy. 62 east, to I-35W north. Both detour routes will be marked with signs.
