You can kiss winter goodbye this week by entering Guess the Snowfall – the final game of this winter!
Simply click on the form below to enter. You’ll be asked to guess how much snow will fall on the Twin Cities in March, in inches and tenths, and provide your real name, an e-mail address and a phone number where you can be reached. If you win, you’ll earn a gift certificate to the coffee or bagel shop of your choice, and a quick interview with weather reporter Bill McAuliffe.
The winning guess will be the one that’s closest to the official March snowfall total, as measured by the National Weather Service at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, without exceeding the total. In the case of ties, the winner will be the person with the earliest entry. The deadline for entries is Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11:59 p.m. Friday we’ll announce the February winner.
Need some guidance? March, on average, brings 10.2 inches of snow to the Twin Cities. Last year brought 1.3 inches. In 2010, there was none. The record is 40 inches, set in 1951.
March is also the final quarter of the season-long Guess the Snowfall game, which folks entered way back in November. With seasonal snowfall running below normal, there are dozens of people still eligible to win that, but many of those would now need an extremely snowy March to win Guess the Snowfall glory. Stay tuned.
