Twitter has created an interactive map that offers a glimpse into the issues that matter most in each state.
The "political engagement" map shows which of the candidates' tweets had the most reaction and engagement.
In Minnesota, for example, the topic that most engaged tweeters was gay rights, at nearly 25 percent.
In battleground Iowa, though, President Obama's tweets on energy and environment got the most reaction.
For Mitt Romney, retirement was the top topic in Minnesota, while in Iowa it was health care.
Below are the top topics for each candidate in Minnesota and Iowa.
