Crews will begin work on the northbound lane of Nicollet at 13th Street and work their way to Washington Avenue. The project will then shift to the southbound lanes and progress back to 13th Street.
Orange cones and "Road Closed" signs are coming to Nicollet Mall as the city of Minneapolis begins replacing sections of the bus- bike- and pedestrian-only street starting April 21.
Metro Transit buses and other traffic normally allowed on Nicollet Mall will be rerouted while the work is completed over a three- to four-week period. Signs will direct bus riders to alternate stops, a city of Minneapolis news release said.
Pedestrians will be allowed on the mall's sidewalks, and traffic on cross streets will be allowed to cross Nicollet.
Crews will begin work on the northbound lane of Nicollet at 13th Street and work their way to Washington Avenue. The project will then shift to the southbound lanes and progress back to 13th Street.
The construction project also includes some sections of 9th and 10th streets adjacent to the mall.
