Minnesota students in grades three through eight and in high school begin the major statewide testing schedule next week.
Reading and math tests will help determine if schools are considered "adequate" under federal law. A new online science test will be offered at the end of April. The state sets testing "windows." The actual date that a student will take the test is set by individual schools.
April 14-May 2: Students take statewide tests in reading and math, including new test required for graduation.
April 15: Ninth-graders take statewide writing test for graduation.
April 28-May 23: Students take online statewide science test. June 30: State releases assessment results to public.
Aug. 5: State releases Adequate Yearly Progress results.
