COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS

More than $7 million annually: $4.503 million (state aid for transportation costs); $2.5 million (federal grant).

Program extended beyond 2005 expiration. Funding is expected to continue through 2013.

Nearly 5,000 students participated in the first six years.

More than 62 percent of students withdrew during that period. About 17 percent of those students returned to a Minneapolis public school.
