Authorities on Tuesday identified the man who died in a motorcycle crash while riding with others Saturday afternoon in east-central Minnesota.

James W. Kline, 55, of Blaine, was killed when he crashed his motorcycle on Cross Lake Road, about a quarter-mile south of Forest Road just east of Pine City, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Kline and the other motorcyclists came to a "curvy area around [Cross Lake], caught part of a ditch and lost control," said Chief Deputy Scott Blackwell of the Pine County Sheriff's Office. No other motorcyclists went down, Blackwell added.

Kline, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale and died the next day, according to the Sheriff's Office.
