MN150: A big herd near today's zoo site
Three generations of a Lebanon, Minn., farm family -- now known as Apple Valley -- posed in front of their home in the spring of 1909. This photo shows Pauline Kuhn's grandparents, George and Anna Linkert; her great-grandmother, Marie Linkert; and (from left) aunt Fredericka Marie, and uncles Andrew, George Jr. and Philip. George Sr. emigrated from Austria around the turn of the last century. He married Anna Schindeldecker in 1904, and they had 15 children. George and Anna were married for 66 years and died within months of each other in 1970, still on the farm. The cabin site is near an entrance to Lebanon Hills Regional Park, across Johnny Cake Ridge Road from the School of Environmental Studies and the Minnesota Zoo.
