The 20-year-old man accused of shooting to death a cabdriver in north Minneapolis earlier this year was indicted on first-degree murder charges Thursday.

A Hennepin County grand jury returned the indictment against Samuel Johosephat Taylor, of Robbinsdale, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

Taylor was indicted on charges of killing William Harper, 56, of Roseville, while committing an aggravated robbery. Harper was shot in the back in his stopped taxi near 400 23rd Av. N. on the night of March 14. Taylor turned himself in to police the next week.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office convened the grand jury and also obtained an indictment on second-degree murder charges against Taylor. His murder trial is scheduled to begin Monday.
