IMarch 13: Investigator: 'Nothing injurious or traumatic' about infant's death

Last update: March 12, 2008 - 11:21 PM

Hennepin County authorities are continuing to investigate the death of a 4-month-old girl at a drop-in day care center Monday.

"There appears to be nothing injurious or traumatic about the death," said Stephanie Vasquez, an investigator with the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Wednesday. "It doesn't appear to be anything other than natural causes."

The girl's parents had dropped her off at the Sunshine Time Drop-In Center at Century Plaza, a Hennepin County services building in downtown Minneapolis.

After the center's staff found her pale and called for help, she was brought to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died.

Officials have not released the girl's name and Vasquez said the investigation is ongoing. An official ruling could take as long as a month.
