State government to auction off surplus vehicles

Saturday's auction will be the first of 12 to be held this year.

Last update: March 12, 2008 - 11:29 PM

State government has vehicles it no longer needs and will sell them at an auction Saturday.

More than 200 surplus vehicles, including sedans, pickup trucks, vans, SUVs, ATVs and trailers, will go on the block beginning at 9 a.m. at the Department of Administration warehouse at 5420 Old Hwy. 8, the southeast intersection of Interstate 35W and County Road I in Arden Hills.

The live auction is the first of 12 the state will hold this year to unload surplus goods. Seven more will take place in Arden Hills with others scheduled in Grand Rapids, Luverne and Detroit Lakes.

A list of vehicles up for sale Saturday and a schedule of future auctions is available at www.fss.state.mn.us. During fiscal year 2007, which ended June 30, surplus auctions generated $8.4 million for the state.
