DULUTH - The news director at a Duluth TV station has resigned after a Facebook post that offended several American Indian groups.

Jason Vincent resigned Monday from KQDS Fox 21 TV, effective Aug. 17.

The Duluth News Tribune reported that Fox 21 general manager Jackie Bruenjes had accepted his resignation.

Vincent said he has taken a new job but declined to comment further.

While on vacation last week, Vincent posted: "Add drunk, homeless, Native American man to the list of animals that have wandered into my yard."

The post prompted Duluth's American Indian Commission and the Human Rights Commission to call for an apology. The station issued an on-air apology, and Vincent apologized on Facebook.

He had been news director at Fox 21 since 2010.
