Friday, Aug. 17

Legacy of Survival: Coming Home: Descendants of Dakota exiles will walk from Flandreau, S.D., across the Minnesota border to Pipestone for a welcoming ceremony to mark the 150th anniversary of the Dakota exile. The march begins at 8 a.m. at Flandreau, the border crossing is expected at about 10 a.m. and the event will conclude at noon at the Pipestone National Monument. 

Sunday, Aug. 18

Ness Church: A healing commemoration will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the church, located five miles southwest of Litchfield, Minn.

Monday Aug. 20-Thursday, Aug. 23

Dakota Iyuha Owanjina "Together As One": Dakota Nation members gather in the Twin Cities for conference commemorating the Dakota and U.S. War of 1862. To register and for details, contact Alameda Rocha, 612-910-2380 or Michelle Mills, 952-454-0934.
