A central Minnesota truck driver drove his big rig into the back of another semi on Interstate Hwy. 94 in western Wisconsin and was killed in a fiery nighttime collision that has landed the other trucker in jail facing possible felony charges, authorities said Wednesday.

The crash occurred about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday on westbound I-94 near Menomonie, about 45 miles east of the Twin Cities. Brian L. Paglusch, of Paynesville, was killed, the patrol said.

The other driver, a 22-year-old man from Redding, Calif., was uninjured and jailed ahead of a court appearance on suspicion of vehicular homicide while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a detectable amount of a restricted substance.

The lead truck was hauling processed wood beams, while Paglusch had general merchandise, the patrol said. The crash kept the westbound side of the highway closed for about five hours.
