A man fatally shot by a Chisago County sheriff's deputy ignored warnings to put two guns down, then lowered the barrel of one gun to point it at officers, authorities said Monday.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said authorities went to a house in North Branch on Sunday night on a report that Robert Elias Aho, 46, had threatened his wife with a gun.

When officers arrived, Aho's wife, sister and stepdaughter had left the house, but Aho was inside. He emerged with a rifle and shotgun, the BCA said.

Officers say he pointed one of the guns at officers, and Chisago County Sheriff's Deputy Steven Gregory Husmann fired, striking Aho twice.

Husmann has been with the sheriff's office for nine years. He and other officers are now on administrative leave.
