Lakeville has closed its Valley Lake swimming beach because water test results show E. coli bacteria above acceptable levels. The city said in a news release that it will re-test water samples daily until levels are acceptable for public swimming. Valley Lake Park is at 16050 Garrett Path.

The city said it monitors E. coli levels weekly at its three swimming beaches from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. It said E. coli bacteria levels can be lowered if people do not feed the geese or ducks, keep pets off the beach, and have young children wear swim diapers.

The beach was also closed last July for the same reason, along with the nearby Antlers Park beach.
