Community invited to learn more

Last update: February 28, 2008 - 9:32 PM

Last year, the Minnesota Department of Health revealed that a former 3M industrial chemical called PFBA had been found in the drinking water supplies in six communities in Dakota and Washington counties: Cottage Grove, Hastings, Newport, St. Paul Park, South St. Paul and Woodbury. This week, the agency determined that the toxicity levels are low enough that they don't pose a health risk.

The agency has scheduled six community meetings next month to discuss its findings:

Tuesday, March 4: All Saints Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd., Cottage Grove, 6-9 p.m.; Hastings City Hall, 101 Fourth St. E., Hastings, 5-6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, March 5: St. Paul Park City Hall, 600 Portland Av., St. Paul Park, 6-9 p.m.

Monday, March 10: Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road, Woodbury, 6-9 p.m.

Wednesday, March 12: Oak-Land Junior High School, 820 Manning Av. N., Lake Elmo, 6-9 p.m.

Thursday, March 13: Oakdale City Hall, 1584 Hadley Av. N., Oakdale, 6-9 p.m.
