THE DEFENDANTS

Here are the parties being sued by the family of Amanda Jax and their alleged actions the night of Oct. 29 and the next morning (based on police documents and the lawsuit, where noted):

Blattner Enterprises Inc. (doing business as Sidelines Bar and Grill): The bar is owned by Craig and Adam Blattner. Sidelines was granted its license in September 2006. It has been cited numerous times for various alcohol violations, including serving underage customers and allowing patrons to leave the property with alcohol. Sidelines was located in the Mankato Place mall. It closed this week as the city suspended its license and its landlord sought to evict the business. The lawsuit alleges that bartender Beau Ryan was drinking while selling alcohol to Jax's friends. He also bought Jax a drink, her last of the evening, the suit says.

Hannah M. Becker, 21, Monticello, a Minnesota State University, Mankato, student: She lived at the apartment where Jax died. She had known Jax since their freshman year in college and said Jax "used to drink all the time." At Sidelines, Becker, not yet 21, ordered a pitcher of Long Island Iced Tea (containing about 12.5 ounces of hard liquor, the lawsuit says). She saw another customer buy Jax a shot of whiskey, which Jax drank. She said the bartender, Ryan, bought Jax a "Cherry Bomb," a cherry-flavored vodka and energy drink concoction. Becker went to bed about 12:30 a.m. and was awakened by her roommate, Kathryn A. Lensing, who discovered Jax dead. Becker yelled to Lensing to call 911.

Kathryn A. Lensing, 21, Rochester, a former MSU-Mankato student: She lived at the apartment where Jax died. She had known Jax for about 2 1/2 years. She told police that she had seen Jax drunk about 100 times in the past year. She said Jax had one or two beers at her apartment before Lensing, Jax, Becker and Richard T. Johnson went to Sidelines. Lensing drove Jax from Sidelines to her apartment. She told police that Jax vomited twice at the apartment. She said she last saw Jax breathing fine and snoring sometime before 2:30 a.m. She awoke about 7 a.m. and found Jax dead.

Richard T. Johnson, 22, Mankato, a former MSU-Mankato student: Johnson, Hannah Becker's boyfriend, along with Becker, told police that they had seen or helped put Jax to bed drunk at least 50 times. Johnson ordered a pitcher of beer at Sidelines. He went to bed sometime before 1:30 a.m. He was awakened by Lensing, who found Jax dead.

Jonathan R. McIntyre, 22, St. Paul: A friend of Jax who arrived at Sidelines with friend Per David Kvalsten. He bought a shot of rum at the bar for Jax. He carried Jax out of the bar over his shoulder and put her in Becker's car. He carried Jax again on his shoulder into the Becker-Lensing apartment and put her in a bed. He left the apartment sometime between 1:30 and 2 a.m.

Per David Kvalsten, Durbin, N.D., an MSU-Mankato student: A friend of Jax, he bought a "Stoplight" drink (two flavors of schnapps and tequila) for her.

Unidentified bonding company: Also named as a defendant is a "yet-to-be-identified" company that provided the bond used by Blattner Enterprises to obtain the liquor license for Sidelines.
