Now that rail planners have chosen a layout for the Central Corridor light-rail line, a series of hearings and procedural votes will take place over the next six months. The Metropolitan Council will formally submit its application for federal funding by September.

If the Federal Transit Administration approves the plan, construction is scheduled to start in 2010 and trains would go into service in 2014.
